Imran Hamdulay is a writer and director based in Cape Town working between films and commercials. He was recently the producer and production designer on the feature film SONS OF THE SEA, which won Best South African Film at the Durban International Film Festival. His film projects have received support and accolades from various markets and labs like Cannes Marche du Film, IFFR Cinemart Lab, EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) & Durban Filmmart Institute amongst others. He is a Berlinale Talents alumni and serves as a member of the SAFTAS jury.

Coming from a family of writers and activists helped shaped his mindset and inclusive approach to directing. His experience in narrative drama means he has an instinctual eye for crafting beautiful imagery and drawing natural performances from actors. He was the recipient of the Robert Bosch Stiftung award and was featured on CNN Inside Africa as one of Africa's directors to watch. When he is not on the soccer field or obsessing about the last Manchester United performance, Imran is quietly crafting new stories as one of South Africa’s emerging film directors.
